Juniors on the move!
The 2nd of 3 Junior PGA Championship Qualifiers took place today at Lebanon Country Club (Lebanon, PA). 81 junior golfers tried their luck at the par 72/75, 6,361/5,352 yards long golf course. 25 juniors posted 83 (+11) and lower and were fortunate enough to qualify for the Philadelphia Section Junior PGA Championship which will be held on Monday, June 29th at French Creek Golf Club (Elverson, PA).
In addition to being a qualifier, today’s event at Lebanon was also a Philadelphia Junior Tour event where Jack Goyette (Dillsburg, PA) received 1st place honors in the Boys 13-18 division with a round of 73 (+1). Goyette recorded 4 birdies on the afternoon including 2 on his final 6 holes to take the outright lead. Runner-up Brady Goodling (Manheim, PA) finished with an 18 hole score of 75 (+3). In a tie for 3rd was Craig Hornberger (Ephrata, PA), Cody Caporaso (Thornton, PA) and Matthew Hardman (Gettysburg, PA) with rounds of 76 (+4).
The Girls 13-18 division, Madison Houseal (Dillsburg, PA) finished in 1st place with a round of 84 (+9) including 2 birdies on the 6th and 11th holes. In a tie for 2nd place was Erica Herr (New Hope, PA) and Alli Weaver (Lititz, PA) with rounds of 88 (+13).
The youngest age division on tour is the 9 Hole Division (Boys & Girls 10-12) where 5 youngsters qualified for the Philadelphia Section Junior PGA Championship. Overall, Ryan Rucinski (Wilmington, DE) continued his stellar play with a front nine score of 38 (E). Rucinski had back-to-back birdies on the 15th and 16th holes to assure himself of a 1st place medal. In 2nd place was Russel (R.J.) Wren (Morgantown, PA) with a score of 41 (+3) and Jake Gray (Glenmoore, PA) in 3rd with a 45 (+7).
